Looking for a way to spark your child’s creativity while developing fine motor skills and a love for storytelling?
At Storycraft in Zurich, families and children explore the world of art through vibrant, messy, hands-on adventures that turn stories into colorful masterpieces. With classes tailored by age and interest, Storycraft is a space where imagination thrives and children learn through sensory-rich play.
They start every class with a story from a fun picture book. Some of our favorite authors at Storycraft are Julia Donaldson, Helen Stephens, Oliver Jeffers and Benji Davies, but they also like discovering new picture books so usually they'll be a mixture of stories you know and probably a few stories you don't. After the storytime the teacher will show you how to make the suggested art or craft project. The art and craft project will normally relate to the theme of the story.
Every term they will have a good variety of projects, often including 2D and 3D projects, structured crafts and more freestyle experiments. Some projects are one week, others span more weeks. Every term they use a variety of artistic materials and introduce children and parents to different techniques.
Family Craft Classes (Ages 2–10) Every Saturday morning, young creators dive into enchanting storytimes inspired by beloved authors like Julia Donaldson, Oliver Jeffers, and Benji Davies. After the story, children get creative with tactile materials like pom-poms, sequins, googly eyes, and glitter. Each session ends with a unique art project full of personality and imagination. Children aged 4+ can attend independently if preferred.
Family Messy Art Sessions (Ages 2–10) One Sunday per month, Storycraft opens its doors to an explosion of color and creativity. Children experiment with rollers, sponges, stamps—and even their hands—to create large-scale, expressive art inspired by picture book storytelling. Messy play meets early artistic expression in these fun, sensory-based classes. Drop-off option available for ages 4+.
Little Artists Classes (Ages 7–13) For older children with a passion for creativity, the Little Artists sessions offer a chance to explore advanced techniques in drawing, collage, painting, and sculpture. Each class draws inspiration from artists and story themes to help children build confidence in expressing themselves through art.
Class Times: Wednesdays 17:15–18:45 Thursdays 17:00–18:30 Fridays 16:15–17:45

Storycraft was founded by Lemady Rochard, an award-nominated illustrator, educator, and community artist originally from the UK and now based in the foothills of the Alps in Switzerland. Lemady combines her background in theatre, art, and storytelling with a deep understanding of how children learn and grow.
Her teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that every child has a story to tell—and that by giving them space to imagine, create, and share, we empower them to become more confident, expressive, and empathetic individuals. Through Storycraft, she’s created an inclusive space where children of all backgrounds can flourish through creativity.
Whether she’s leading a story circle, guiding a character-building session, or playing the role of a wise sea creature, Lemady brings enthusiasm, warmth, and years of artistic experience to every session.
