Since 2008, we have been sharing our passion for the English language and literature with
children.
We teach children aged 3 to approximately 12 years old.
The children are introduced to the world of phonetics through engaging activities, stories, songs, rhymes and movement, and are soon able to read short words. As they progress, grammar skills are developed, stories are written, and books are read with increasing confidence.
In small classes, our teachers, who are all native speakers, have time to respond to the individual needs of the children with great dedication.
The programme is suitable for English-speaking children. For those who are new to English,
we offer a playful introduction to the language through our new course – English as an
Additional Language.
Altstetten, Oerlikon, Baden, Erlenbach, Herrliberg, Männedorf, Thalwil, Leimbach, Baar and
Cham.
The courses take place on different days/times depending on the location.
Children learn the phonetic sounds of the alphabet in a playful way and also how letters work
together to form words! They begin by recognising initial, middle and final sounds in words
and letters and reading short words and sentences.
In their weekly reading books, children are now introduced to more complex reading
patterns, with longer words containing complex consonant and vowel groups, and of course
the silent ‘magic e’. These are short, humorous stories that contain phonetic words that are
easy for children to pronounce and ‘tricky’ words that children learn visually.
Children practise writing sentences, composing letters and short creative stories, and at an
advanced level, writing more complex, longer texts. Grammar is an important part of these
lessons. Another important part of these lessons is promoting reading skills and reading
comprehension.
The biweekly book club allows children to apply their acquired English skills and use their
knowledge and understanding of book analysis, summary and presentation.
Games, songs, crafts and stories help children immerse themselves in the language in a
playful way. After a short time, the children know topic-related vocabulary and can speak
short sentences
