The journey that led to Momizen
The idea for Momizen is born – a single platform where parents can easily find trusted activities for children and teens. As a mother of three in the Zurich region, Maria struggled to keep track of quality activities, classes and camps for her children. She realised parents needed one place to discover trusted activities instead of searching across dozens of websites, chats and flyers.
What started as Maria’s personal list of favourite activities evolved into an online directory. With the support of a remote yet close-knit team, she turned her notes and spreadsheets into a real product. Friends began asking for her recommendations, and the list became a public website. Momizen.com launched as a small, focused platform helping parents in and around Zurich and newly added Athens find after-school activities, camps and classes for children and teens.
Over time, more small and medium-sized businesses joined: sports clubs, coding schools, language academies, creative workshops and holiday camps. Together with her tightly connected team, Maria expanded Momizen beyond simple listings by adding guides and blog posts on topics like swimming lessons, family outings, gift ideas and digital skills for teens. The platform grew into a community hub where parents could both discover activities and get practical information.
By listening closely to providers’ challenges, low visibility, late bookings, lack of time for marketing, the Momizen team developed paid subscription plans offering better visibility, SEO-optimised listings, features in blog posts, newsletters and social media promotion. Momizen’s role evolved from being just a directory for parents to becoming a growth partner for activity providers, helping them fill their classes and reach more families in the German-speaking region of Switzerland and Athens, Greece.

Rubini Charitou is a graduate of the Department of Primary Education at the University of Patras in Greece and holds a Master’s degree in School Psychology. She has extensive experience working with children in general education classrooms and STEM Projects, as a shadow teacher, in a Special Education Primary School focusing on new teaching methods, and as an Inclusion teacher in an Experimental Primary School. As an educator and mother of two, she is dedicated to supporting children’s development and helping them reach their full potential.
