Creatures of the Night Themes

Halloween has taken over the Storycraft studio in Rüschlikon this Herbstferien, and it's exactly the kind of hands on, screen free week that reminds us what kids can do with their own two hands. No app can teach papier mache technique or the patience of building a monster from scratch. That's the whole point.

Running across two weeks (5-9 and 12-16 October), kids aged 5 to 10 dive into a full studio of vampires, ravens, mad science and mixed media chaos. Storycraft has split the fun into two mini themes so families can pick what fits their week (or do both):

Vampires & Creatures of the Night (5-7 Oct or 12-14 Oct)

Kids design their own vampire persona and build a full face mask, craft a papier mache "vampire's chalice" loaded with gothic foam clay details, paint a moonlit raven canvas, and sculpt a miniature midnight feast out of foam clay. Wednesday afternoon wraps with a small Halloween party.

Mad Lab (8-9 Oct or 15-16 Oct)

The studio turns into a laboratory for two days of mutant monster plants built from Mod Roc, oversized "mad experiment" portraits complete with scientific labels, and creepy specimen jars filled with slime, eyeballs and other lab discoveries.

Every day mixes structured projects with free art time, plus Halloween storytelling, themed games, music and outdoor breaks when weather allows. Snacks and drinks are provided, kids bring their own packed lunch.

Materials and Techniques

Children work with acrylic and gouache paint, clay, papier-mâché, cardboard, fabric, foil, glitter, sequins, and mixed media. Every day balances guided instruction with personalisation.
