LOKI is a pottery studio in Zurich with a kids programme at two locations, Oerlikon and Altstetten.

Children work with clay in English-language classes.

Booking options: full week, half days (morning or afternoon) or a single day. Single-day registration opens shortly before each camp, subject to availability.

What kids do: ceramics and other artistic projects, balanced with outdoor breaks, playtime and regular snack pauses. Kids work side by side, share ideas and make friends.

Wednesday Clay Club (after school)

A relaxed pottery afternoon where kids work on their own projects and ideas, from the first sketch to a finished ceramic piece.

Included in the price: 1 kg of clay per session (extra clay CHF 8 per kg), all tools and studio equipment, pottery wheel access, glazes and decorating materials, firing, a personal studio shelf for ongoing projects, teacher guidance and snacks during the afternoon.

What kids try: pottery wheel throwing, hand-building, sculpture, modelling and glazing. They can continue unfinished pieces in later sessions.

Flexible booking: book one session at a time or a whole course.

Teacher: JoAnn, LOKI's kids camp instructor, with a background in kindergarten and primary school teaching.

Language: mainly English. Children who are less confident in English can get support from teachers in German, French and Italian.

Finished pieces: after the last lesson, staff fire all creations. They are ready to collect at the studio within 4 weeks of the final class.

Allergies: parents are asked to tell LOKI about food intolerances or allergies.

Kids' birthday parties

A Pottery making workshop or a pottery painting session.

Parties are for 4 to 18 participants and there is a food option. Prices, duration and food details are on the birthday page.

Getting to LOKI Studio Oerlikon

Train: Zurich Oerlikon station is about a 10-minute walk (450 m).
Bus and tram: several lines reach Sternen Oerlikon and Salersteig, about a 4-minute walk (270 m). Trams 10 and 14 pass along Schaffhauserstrasse, near the shop.
Parking: one customer parking space next to the shop, marked LOKI. Other spaces in the building are private. Public parking is available nearby along Gubelstrasse and surrounding streets.
Finding the workspace: the studio has two parts, the workspace and the shop, at the same address. The workspace is at the rear of the building: enter the private parking area, go downhill, and take the staircase on the right up to the terrace and studio. Your booking confirmation has the exact location details, so check it before you go.
Facilities: relax and coffee area, restroom, small terrace.
Shop pickup hours: Fridays 17:00 to 19:00, Saturdays 10:00 to 12:00.

What to wear and bring

Comfortable clothes and shoes that can get messy. Clay is messy, especially at the wheel.
One apron per person is provided for clay sessions. Pottery painting sessions do not use aprons.
All materials are provided at the studio. You cannot bring your own clay or glaze.

Booking, changes and cancellation

From LOKI's general booking policy (homepage FAQ):

No refunds for cancelled bookings.
You can change the date only. Up to 5 days before the class it is free. From 5 days to 2 hours before, 50% of the total price is charged extra.
A no-show without notice cannot be rescheduled or refunded. LOKI states there are no exceptions for illness or personal matters and it cannot accept medical or legal certificates.
