Planning a family trip to Switzerland? Whether you're visiting for the mountains, chocolate, or crystal-clear lakes, this beautiful country offers unforgettable adventures—especially when you're traveling with kids.

As a mom and founder of Momizen.com, I’m often asked: What are the best things to do in Switzerland with kids if we only have a few days?

Here’s a flexible 4-day itinerary filled with outdoor fun, cultural gems, and family-friendly adventures—with tips for staying active, screen-free, and stress-free along the way.

🇨🇭 Days 1–2: Zurich & Lucerne – Lakeside Fun Meets Mountain Magic

🏞️ Mount Pilatus Adventure (Near Lucerne)

For a classic Swiss family day, head to Mount Pilatus via a panoramic gondola and the iconic red cogwheel train—the steepest in the world!

Once at the summit, enjoy:

  • Breathtaking views of Lake Lucerne
  • Tobogganing on the Dragon Run
  • Paragliding (for thrill-seekers!)
  • Hiking and biking trails
  • The Pilu Land adventure playground for younger kids
💡 Tip: You can even spend the night at the top, with hotels that offer sunrise views above the clouds.

🏊‍♀️ Explore Zurich Like a Local

On a sunny afternoon, visit a local Badi (public swimming area) or take a dip in one of Zurich’s many clean rivers. It’s a fun and free way for the whole family to unwind.

🐾 Day 3: Animal & Adventure Parks Near Zurich

These spots are easily accessible from Zurich and offer a perfect blend of outdoor play, animals, and mini thrills:

🐻 Wild Animals and Zoos in Zurich

🏔️ Stoos Muotatal – A car-free mountain village with a funicular ride, views, and walking trails

🌊 Rheinfall with Kids – Europe’s largest waterfall with boat tours

🎢 Schongiland – A small amusement park with rides and activities, perfect for younger kids (find it here on Momizen)

Each destination is parent-tested, kid-approved, and great for half-day or full-day adventures.

🚞 Days 4-5: Scenic Journeys & Alpine Villages Montreux → Zermatt → Gstaad

From Geneva or Montreux, take a day trip to the iconic Matterhorn via Zermatt & Glacier Paradise. It's an unforgettable destination for families.

Afterwards, board the vintage-style GoldenPass Belle-Époque Train for a scenic ride to Gstaad—a picturesque Alpine village where you can enjoy nature walks, cheese fondue, and charming town life.

Interlaken & Grindelwald

Travel from Zurich or Geneva by train and enjoy:
