Free try-out sessions held regularly for new players up to U14. No experience needed, just show up!
Founded in 2004, Zurich Rugby Academy (ZRA) is one of Zurich's most established and welcoming youth sports clubs. Affiliated with Rugby Union Zurich (RUZ), the Grasshoppers Club (GC Rugby Section), and a proud member of the Swiss Rugby Federation (FSR), ZRA offers structured training and competitive opportunities for players from age 5 all the way to U19.
The club's philosophy is captured perfectly in its own words: "Mehr als ein Sport — Werte fürs Leben" (More than a sport — values for life). Rugby teaches children teamwork, resilience, respect, and fair play in a uniquely physical and exciting environment. These are not just buzzwords at ZRA — they are lived every week on the field at Sportplatz Allmend, Brunau, one of Zurich's finest outdoor sports venues.
ZRA competes in tournaments and matches across Switzerland and beyond, and maintains a lively social calendar for both players and their families — from Christmas Samiclaus events and 6 Nations viewings to camping weekends and end-of-season BBQs. This is a club that builds community, not just athletes.
Crucially for new families: all abilities are welcome.
Whether your child has never touched a rugby ball or has some experience, ZRA will find them a place. Regular taster sessions (Schnuppertage) are held for newcomers up to U14, making it one of the most accessible youth rugby programs in the region.
