North America Native Museum

General Description

Indigenous artists in urban settings, Arctic whalers, bison hunters on the Great Plains, and mask carvers from the northwest coast—NONAM invites you on a brief journey through the vast landscapes of North America. The museum showcases the rich diversity of Indigenous nations, both past and present, and provides fascinating insights into the art and cultures of First Nations, Inuit, Native Americans, and Native Alaskans. Also, there are Special exhibitions like “Move. Indigenous cultures in motion”, “Cara Romero. Photography”. Furthermore, the "Sounding Museum," recognized by the Swiss UNESCO Commission as a contribution to the International Year for the Rapprochement of Cultures, will astonish you with how much you can see and discover through sound.

Activities

North America Native Museum offers the following Special exhibitions : 

• Move. Indigenous cultures in motion : Kayaks move quietly over rivers and lakes, snowshoes allow you to traverse snow-covered landscapes, and surfboards deliver an exhilarating experience in ocean waves, until 16 March 2025,
• Cara Romero. Photography : Renowned photographer Cara Romero (Chemehuevi) explores Indigenous history, present, and future through modern, often deeply personal photographic expressions. She intricately weaves together mythical, futuristic, ecological, and feminist themes into her complex compositions, until 16 March 2025.
