General Description

The Museum presents the evolution of the technological achievements on display, giving visitors the opportunity to learn about the progress in the field of Information Technology from the 1970s to the mid-1990s. At the same time, it highlights the role of these developments in shaping the digital present and their contribution to the technology of the future. The aim of the Hellenic Museum of Informatics is to gather and transmit to visitors knowledge about the history of computing. It includes exhibitions, school tours, conferences, events and device presentations. It also includes Escape Room: Hack Attack with the theme "the museum was attacked and a clock is counting down... Will you make it?" In addition, you can also tour the IT museum virtually through its website.

Activities

The Hellenic Museum of Informatics in Moschato offers various activities and events related to the history of computing and technology. Some of the main activities of the museum include : 

  • Guided Tours : Regular guided tours are organized for visitors of all ages, where participants can learn about important exhibits such as historical computers, peripherals, software and objects that contributed to the development of technology from 1970 to the present day,

  • Educational programs : The museum offers educational activities for schoolchildren and students, aimed at introducing them to the world of computing. These programmes focus on both the history and modern developments in technology and are as follows : "The Antikythera mechanism ticked...", "The history of mobile telephony", "From the beginning of the internet to the age of social networks",

  • Exhibitions : The museum hosts temporary exhibitions covering topics ranging from the history of technology to modern computing. These exhibitions usually include innovative technologies, old computers, and equipment that changed the way we live and work,

  • Interactive workshops : Visitors can participate in interactive workshops where they can try out old computers, play with classic video games and understand the operation of machines that were milestones in the development of technology,

  • Events and talks : From time to time, the museum hosts lectures and presentations by experts in the field of computing, as well as discussions on future technology and innovations affecting society,

  • Partnerships with educational institutions : The museum works with schools, universities and other educational institutions to organize events and programmes, fostering the dissemination of IT knowledge to younger generations,

  • Escape Room : Each game can be played by 1 group of adults or minors over 12 years old accompanied by at least one adult (4-6 players per group).

  • VR game : The award-winning start-up company Musemio, in collaboration with our Museum, invites you to explore the world of VR through an educational and interactive application. Playing in a virtual world inspired by technology, children are encouraged to discover computers through various challenges and learn the basics of computing.

General admission : 4 euros

Schools : 3 euros (the price includes the educational tour)

Students : 3 euros

Unemployed: 3 euros (for individual visits on presentation of unemployment card)

Children under 6 years old: Free
