General Description
The Cultural Park is a space dedicated to Arts, Letters and Culture. Within it is the "Museum of Greek Folklore", which has been built according to European standards and is designed as a Traditional Village. It includes a central square and a picturesque market, workshops of traditional trades, vineyards in the surroundings, wineries, olive groves and traditional olive oil extraction units. There are also granaries, threshing floors, a water mill, a wood-fired oven, and a variety of exhibits relating to cereals and bread production. Experiential educational programmes for primary and secondary school children are carried out in the museum, with the support of bodies such as the UNESCO Group and the educational community as a whole. In addition, the park hosts children's parties and celebrations, as well as an exhibition of dinosaur models depicting species that lived on Earth billions of years ago.
Activities
The Keratea Cultural Park offers a variety of programs such as :
- Educational Environmental Program "The Age of Dinosaurs" : This exhibition is addressed to primary and secondary school students, offering educational, environmental and recreational content. The guided tour of the exhibition is led by qualified staff and lasts 50 minutes. The price is from 4 - 6 euros.
- Museum of Greek Folklore : Keratea Park includes spaces in the "Museum of Greek Folklore," which is designed according to European standards and designed like a small village. In recent years, an Old Market dedicated to traditional and forgotten crafts has been added to the museum.
- Our little farm: Our Little Farm is a favorite spot for both young and old alike. The leader of the Farm, Magdalo, a friendly and kind-hearted donkey, welcomes the young visitors every day. Next to her, Thalia, the cute little goat and deputy leader of the Farm, waits for petting and feeding. The farm is completed with ducks in the pond and two little turtles that add liveliness to the company. A walk on the Lake Bridge and feeding the proud ducks is always a special experience!
- Educational program "Herbs and Herbs" : The program offers children the opportunity to get to know the herbs and aromatic plants of the Greek land, to discover their benefits through play and to actively participate in experiential activities such as planting, harvesting and cultivating herbs.
- Full Day Excursion : Visit to the traditional village of the Park and get acquainted with some of the old trades. Tour of the organic vineyards, the traditional stone wine presses, the wooden roundhouses, the cellar and the makina, the valuable tool of the grape grower. A tour of the olive grove and the three traditional olive mills, as well as a visit to the Park's granary, the stone threshing floor and the village's impressive watermill! The surprises continue with a ride on the bridge of the lake and feeding the animals at the small farm!
