Spira Puppet Theatre Group in Paraga

"The Beanstalk and the Feather Pillow"  

A unique performance of folk puppetry for spectators of all ages, by the Spira Puppet Theatre Group. 

Two special performances at the Paraga arts venue, on Saturday 8 and 15 March 2025, at 18:00.  

Who's Fassoulis?  

Fasoulis is a timeless carnival character, full of vitality and humour. He represents the popular spirit, bridging the past with the present. With audacity, sensitivity and a revolutionary spirit, he faces every obstacle in his way, offering laughter and twists.  

Summary of the play  

The Angel and the Devil meet and everything is turned upside down! Is it love, hate or love that gave life to Fassoulis? Either way, the fearless puppet hero is here, ready to entertain us with his special laugh. Along the way he will meet Marouka, a baby, a mischievous black cat and, finally, death itself. Will he manage to escape and defeat him?  

The performance is presented live, without words, with altered doll voices through the "souzl", a traditional tool that adds authenticity to the spectacle.
