Activities

Swiss Science Center Technorama offers a wide array of exciting, hands-on activities designed to spark curiosity and inspire young minds. Here are some of the top activities for kids :

Technorama Outdoors

The beauty of natural phenomena is truly brought to life outdoors on the Wonder Bridge. Here, you can explore more than thirty exciting new attractions, experience a variety of fascinating natural wonders together, and take a break to relax and enjoy a cozy picnic.

Shows and Demonstrations

Technorama offers spectacular shows and special demonstrations tailored for smaller audiences.

  • Natural history of a lightning flash : A breathtaking spectacle! The excitement builds as voltages and currents create flickering lightning and make copper wires evaporate in this captivating display.

  • Sigi's phenomenal oxygen show : The new Oxygen Show, featuring the world-renowned science show expert, Sigi Hornbacher.

  • Laser Kiosk : "Lucid" explores fascinating experiments with extraordinary light.

  • Coriolis Carousel : Incredible phenomena unfold when an entire Earth day is compressed into just four seconds.

Exhibitions
  • The Sound of Wood : Let your imagination run wild with giant ball runs that offer a fun and hands-on way to explore the physical concepts of space and time. Most machines require manual operation to guide the ball into the goal, with plenty of levers, pedals, and cranks at your disposal. Your challenge is to figure out how each mechanism works!

  • Light and Sight : Visitors can weave with light and create colorful shadows in places where you would normally expect black ones. Polarized light literally transforms the way we see our surroundings. A special highlight is the You & Me exhibit, where you can merge your face with that of another, creating a truly unique experience.

  • Mindscapes : Incredible experiments reveal the connection between sensory stimuli and perception, showcasing the unique mental landscapes the brain constructs during this process. Many exhibits will surprise you as you pass by them; for instance, you won’t realize what your brain is automatically adjusting until you’re just a few steps away from the *Reversed Perspective* exhibit.

  • Water, Nature, Chaos : Chaos emerges where traditional science meets its boundaries. The unpredictable and irregular nature of the world has long posed a challenge to scientists and researchers. Several exhibits in this section of the exhibition explore the fascinating concept of chaos.

  • Mirror mirror : This unique exhibition features mirrors of all shapes and sizes, including a "Matrix Mirror" that creates strange distortions in your reflection, along with an endless series of surprising "wow!" moments. The puzzling symmetries, asymmetries, and the mind-bending left-right-but-not-up-down swaps push the boundaries of human imagination, leaving you amazed and astonished!

  • Electricity and Magnets : In the "Electricity and Magnets" exhibition, explore the fascinating connections between electromagnetism and uncover surprising, beautiful phenomena. Energize your body and visualize the currents of your heart. Unleash your creativity by constructing three-dimensional glowing circuits and designing captivating magnetic sculptures.

Training Courses
  • A day at Technorama offers a profound understanding of natural phenomena through a maze of interactive stations. Much like a stroll through the forest, you engage with your surroundings using all your senses, constantly observing and discovering something new.

  • A year of teaching provides a deeper understanding and greater opportunity to fully grasp these concepts. What begins as a simple walk in the forest becomes a meaningful journey. This is because teaching offers far more chances to apply the educational principles of Technorama. Over the course of a school year, students can experience a depth of learning that goes beyond what is possible in just one day at Technorama.

Workshops
  • 4 Steps to Discovering Together.

  • A park for all the senses.

  • Explorers.

  • Thought connections.

  • Dying and Living.

School classes

Students 20 years and under CHF 19. At the beginning, show your class what is meant by the principle of «hands-on» at an experiment station.

Let your class explore an exhibition in small groups (2-3 students) and assign these groups a specific task. Plan plenty of time for the students to set their own priorities. Demonstrations, shows or workshops can also serve to structure the class trip: as a highlight, or to add variety or delve further into a specific subject.
