The PBZ Pestalozzi Library aims to instill a love of language, books, and other media in children, encourage reading, and support their language learning. Family Literacy is a language and reading support program for families with a migration background offers reading activities where stories and books can be explored in one's native language. Furthermore, at the PBZ, children have the opportunity to explore new technologies and overcome inhibitions. Parents and children receive support in handling various formats, with a focus on developing appropriate media skills. Also, the young visitors can enjoy their favorite games on PlayStation 4 or Nintendo Switch.
The PBZ Pestalozzi Library Zurich offers the following events for children:
Children's meeting : KinderTREFF features three series tailored to different age groups. All events are free and last between 30 and 60 minutes. Some events from these are “Knee rhymes and finger games” for parents with toddlers aged nine to 24 months and “Sharing stories together” for parents with toddlers aged two to three years. They are led by reading animators.
Discovering and exploring new technologies : Games, coding—'programming'—is also becoming an increasingly important skill. On select afternoons, the PBZ provides opportunities for children aged 8 to 12 to explore games, programming, and hands-on activities, like VR glasses. Under the guidance of staff, they can experiment with various technologies.

You can read from a wide variety of children's books for all tastes. In addition, there are reading areas with newspapers and magazines, desks, Internet workstations, photocopiers, children’s chairs, armchairs, sofas and soft toys.
