At the Merso Art School's children's workshop, children have the opportunity to engage in painting, crafts, comics, origami and ceramics. Classes are for children from preschool through 3rd grade, divided into age groups for more targeted instruction. All necessary materials are provided by the school. The teachers are graduates of the Higher School of Fine Arts, have extensive teaching experience, significant artistic work and expertise in children's education. They work closely with parents, forming a creative and supportive environment that allows each child to adapt, express their unique perspective and nurture their creativity through art. Merso Art School has two workshops at 129 Pefkon Street in Neo Heraklion, and 26B Achaias Street, Panormou.
Merso Art School's children's comic section has been running for 14 years, offering students a creative environment where they can explore the art of illustrated storytelling.
Under the guidance of Peter Christoulias, an experienced comic book creator and illustrator, the three-hour weekly workshop has contributed to the creation of a rich artistic output. This includes collective feature comics, illustrations and experimentation with related media such as animation.
Through the process of producing narrative works, children gradually develop their skills in visual storytelling. They learn to use stylized drawing, work with composition and perspective, while becoming familiar with directing and narrative techniques that bring their stories to life.
